Golden Paw Match training

Explain pet matching, alerts, and the next steps with a shelter or current owner.

Updated October 17, 2026. Learn the free placement and adopter journeys before discussing optional paid alerts. Golden Paw Match serves a sensitive, practical need: helping a family find a suitable next home for a loved pet.

Understand the mission precisely

Golden Paw Match primarily helps older adults and their families place a healthy dog that is comfortable with seniors with another older adult seeking companionship. “Senior” refers to the people. The dog can be any age. Cats and other responsible adopters are also supported, but the core introduction should remain clear.

Common situations include a move, a health change, or a death that leaves a family needing a new care arrangement. The service connects people; it does not take custody of pets, operate as a shelter, approve adoptions, verify temperament, or guarantee a placement. Caregivers and shelters make placement decisions with prospective adopters.

A useful affiliate introduction offers the free listing or browsing step. Paying is not necessary to publish an ordinary listing, contact a caregiver, or use a basic account. Do not use a family's urgency to imply that buying Pro or a boost is required to find help.

Potential audiences include families assisting an older relative, older adults considering a companion, and care professionals who encounter the situation at work. A person who needs immediate animal custody, emergency veterinary care, or a guaranteed adopter needs resources beyond this matching tool. Explain that limit early and plainly.

Discovery without collecting unnecessary personal information

Ask whether they are trying to place a pet or find one. For placement, ask whether the person owns the pet or has permission to help, what is known about the dog's size, daily routine, health, training, and comfort with older adults, and the general location. Let the family describe what they are comfortable making public.

For an adopter, ask about home activity level, comfortable dog size, care capacity, and location. Avoid assumptions such as “older dog means calm” or “small dog means easy.” Caregiver-reported information may be incomplete, and a pet's actual needs deserve a direct conversation.

For a care professional, ask whether they have permission to request follow-up and direct them to the private care-team form. Do not ask for patient medical records, Social Security numbers, or a detailed explanation of a person's diagnosis. A general situation and a permitted contact route are enough to begin.

Free service, Pro Alerts, and optional boost

Free accounts provide listing management, private conversations, saved pets, and optional weekly pet updates. Creating an account or listing does not automatically enroll someone in every email offering. Weekly updates and guidance choices have their own controls.

Current Pro Alerts checkout offers a seven-day trial followed by $3.99 per month or $29 per year. Pro is optional and offers daily matching alerts; the site also presents AI Concierge Match and Share Your Story as Pro tools. Do not promise that daily delivery means new matching pets exist every day or that a concierge suggestion guarantees suitability.

A listing can optionally receive a $9 one-time boost. The free listing and ordinary messages remain available without it. A boost buys the stated featured placement, not an approved adoption or guaranteed inquiry. This guide does not promise an affiliate commission on that boost; the published affiliate offer is for qualifying Pro Alerts purchases.

The customer should read the selected renewal amount and cancellation terms in checkout. Trial enrollment is not a paid sale. Annual billing is one annual charge, not a monthly payment. Current product flows use web billing; do not invent an Apple or Google purchase or restore path.

Lesson 1 — Use a verified free account

Have the person start from your current Golden Paw Match share link. Free account / Sign in opens the account route. Complete the email verification flow using the person's own email. They should enter their own code or follow the supplied verification instructions privately.

Verification proves control of that email address. It is not a background check, identity investigation, or adoption approval. Explain that distinction when someone asks whether an account means a person is safe or suitable.

After signing in, My account groups My listings, Messages, Pet updates, Optional email guides, and Saved pets. Use these sections to manage a continuing search or placement. Do not create repeated accounts when a verification message is delayed; check the email spelling, spam folder, and current message before requesting help.

An affiliate should not ask for the verification code, access the customer's inbox, or take over their account. The person with responsibility for the pet should retain control of what is published and with whom they communicate.

Lesson 2 — Prepare an honest free rehome listing

Choose Rehome a dog or Create a free listing. The form supports dog or cat, pet name, optional age, dog size, an optional photo, personality and routine, and the reason for rehoming. Use a photo the family has permission to share. Current image guidance accepts JPEG, PNG, or WebP up to 3 MB.

The health and behavior section asks whether the pet is currently healthy, comfortable and gentle with older adults, house- or litter-trained, suited to a calm routine, and currently or previously cared for by a senior. “Not sure” is a valid answer. Record uncertainty rather than selecting the answer most likely to attract interest.

Use the longer health, daily-care, and handling fields for known needs. Describe what the caregiver has observed, including relevant concerns. Do not convert a memory of good behavior once into a broad guarantee that the dog is safe around everyone.

The form asks for ZIP, city, state, and the person's role. City and ZIP are public; the email is not displayed on the listing. Keep phone numbers, email addresses, private family details, and external links out of the public description. Confirm the ownership or permission and honesty statements before publishing.

Choose Publish free listing and complete any required account verification. After publication, use View listing to inspect what other people can actually see. Check the pet, location, photo, and disclosures. A submitted draft is not proof that a verified public listing exists.

Lesson 3 — Manage the placement over time

Open My listings to edit an owned listing, review messages, and close it when the pet has a new home. Use the listing's own status controls so the public information stays current. If circumstances change, review the reopening option rather than creating duplicate versions of the same pet.

Conversations belong in Messages. Read the sender's questions, clarify known care needs, and let the family decide what additional information to share privately. A conversation or email verification does not establish suitability. The service does not make placement decisions for them.

Before any handoff, the caregiver and adopter should discuss routine, handling, health needs, housing fit, and the next practical steps. An affiliate can point to the tool but should not announce that an adoption is approved or promise that a match is safe. When an animal belongs to a shelter, follow that shelter's process.

After a successful placement, close the listing to stop misleading new searchers. If the listing needs a correction, edit the original. Do not leave old availability online simply to make the site look busy.

Lesson 4 — Search as an adopter

Find a companion opens pet browsing. Enter the ZIP code, choose dogs, cats, or both, and select Show pets. Read location and caregiver details for each result. Availability changes; do not promise a specific number of local animals before checking the current search.

The Fit quiz gathers location, search distance, species preference, activity level, maximum comfortable dog size, and a house-training preference. When assisting a parent, answer for that person's actual home and mobility, not your own preferences.

The ranked results use listing details, including information that may be incomplete or unknown. A rank is a way to organize a search, not a suitability certification. Rehome listings may be shown with their stated location rather than a verified distance, so read location carefully rather than treating every card as within the selected radius.

Open the pet detail, save interesting pets to the account, and use the available contact route. For a caregiver listing, use the private account conversation. For a shelter listing, follow the source's stated contact and adoption process. Confirm the animal is still available and discuss care before making arrangements.

Results include Copy link and Print for sharing a search with family. These help the family discuss options; copying a results link is not the same as copying your personal affiliate link.

Lesson 5 — Set email preferences deliberately

In Pet updates, enter ZIP and pet type, then actively choose free weekly updates if wanted. Save the preference. Stop weekly updates turns that offering off. Do not tell someone that creating an account itself subscribes them to every marketing email.

The optional Pro section uses the selected location and pet type for daily match alerts. Choose monthly or yearly, review the trial terms, affirm the daily-alert email choice, and continue to checkout. After checkout, return to the account and check status. If a charge or activation is unresolved, contact support rather than buying twice.

Manage billing or cancel Pro is the web subscription route. Stopping weekly updates, stopping guidance emails, and canceling Pro are different actions. Check the specific control corresponding to the person's request.

Optional email guides offers owner/caregiver and adopter series. Each series contains up to three messages spaced over several days; the account explains the timing. Select only the series the person wants and save. These product email guides are separate from Residual Apps partner training preferences.

Lesson 6 — Care-team handoffs are private

For care teams is appropriate for nurses, social workers, care facilities, veterinary practices, funeral homes, and people assisting a family. The form asks for workplace, role, general location, contact name and work email, optional phone, and a short description of the situation.

The permission statement confirms the person is the family or has permission to request follow-up, and understands that Golden Paw Match does not take custody. Submit only accurate information with permission. The confirmation means the private note was received; it does not mean a pet listing was published or a placement arranged.

The page provides a printable handoff and share text. Use those only in an authorized conversation. Nothing in this training authorizes unsolicited messages to facilities or families. A family ready to list can go directly to the free rehome form and retain control of publication.

A five-minute demonstration that protects privacy

Use a prepared practice environment or a form walkthrough. Do not publish a fictional pet to the real adoption supply, submit a pretend care-team request, or message a real caregiver for a sales demo.

  1. Explain the senior-person mission using the homepage.
  2. Choose the placement or adopter path based on the audience.
  3. Walk through the free listing fields with fictional “Demo Sunny,” explaining where “Not sure” belongs, without submitting publicly.
  4. Show how an adopter's quiz represents their home and care capacity.
  5. Explain where listings, conversations, saved pets, and email choices live in an account.
  6. Compare free weekly updates with optional Pro daily alerts and state that neither guarantees a match.
  7. Provide your disclosed affiliate link only if the person wants to continue themselves.

The useful next step for a family is an accurate free listing. For an adopter it is a thoughtful search and conversation. A paid upgrade should follow a real preference for its specific tools.

Practical language and common questions

Introduction for a family: “Golden Paw Match has a free listing and private messages for families helping an older adult find a new home for their dog. Dogs can be any age. You describe the dog's needs and choose the placement. I'm an affiliate and may earn a commission if you choose a qualifying paid plan through my link.”

Introduction for an adopter: “You can browse and contact caregivers free. If you want more frequent matching emails, there is an optional paid alerts plan. Start with whether the listed dog's needs fit your home.”

“Do I have to pay to get my dog listed?” No. Listing and conversations are free. The boost and Pro Alerts are optional.

“Does senior mean an old dog?” The main mission concerns older people. A dog of any age may fit.

“Are pets and adopters verified?” Caregiver information is reported, not independently certified. Email verification is not a background check.

“Will Pro find me a dog this week?” No outcome or timing is guaranteed. Alerts depend on available matching listings.

“Can the service take the dog today?” No. It is a matching tool and does not take custody.

“Why am I seeing a distant listing?” Read its actual location. Not every rehome card has a verified distance or guaranteed radius match.

“I stopped emails, so why am I still subscribed?” Email preferences and billing controls differ. Use Manage billing or cancel Pro for a subscription.

Referral credit, support, and readiness

The current published Pro Alerts reward is $2.50 per qualifying monthly payment or 50% of a qualifying annual payment, currently $14.50 on $29. It is not a reward for a free listing, message, care-team handoff, or trial signup. The $9 boost has no commission promised in this guide. Published amounts are gross program rewards; fees, refunds, attribution, and eligibility affect earnings.

Copy your current Golden Paw Match link from Residual Apps. Let a new customer begin from it before account creation and keep the disclosure near the recommendation. A shared pet-result link is useful to an adopter but is not automatically your tracked sales link. Do not promise credit across unverified device or account changes.

For product help, use support@goldenpawmatch.com, published on the site. Include the account email, listing reference, page and action, exact error, and device. Avoid private family information that is not needed to resolve the problem. For commission questions, use support@residualapps.com and the relevant dashboard evidence.

Readiness questions: Who does “senior” describe? Must a listing pay? Does a verified email certify an adopter? Does a care-team note publish a pet? Does Pro guarantee placement? Answers: primarily the people; no; no; no; no. Demonstrate the free path, the billing-versus-email distinction, and accurate disclosures before recommending paid access.

Golden Paw Match, free rehoming, account and Pro options, care-team handoff. Published affiliate rewards: Residual Apps apps and payouts. Program conditions: Residual Apps terms. Review current checkout and dashboard terms before quoting a purchase or reward.

Use the app and help us improve it

Use the app yourself before recommending it. Complete one useful workflow in your own account or an authorized demo, then find the saved result again. A paid subscription is not required to become a partner; use the free option or an available preview and be clear about what you have actually tried.

If you use this app, tell us what works, where you get stuck, bugs you can reproduce, and what you wish it did next in Partner Care. Include the app, web/iOS/Android, installed version or browser version, steps, expected result, and what happened. Say whether it affects your own use or a demonstration. Please report unclear training or a screen that differs from this guide too.

Keep customer names, email addresses, medical records, payment details, passwords, and sign-in codes out of feedback. Use fictional examples and remove private information from screenshots. Urgent account or billing problems still belong with the product support route above.
