Updated October 17, 2026. Learn the owner’s records workflow, understand how connected barns and farriers fit, and explain which subscriptions currently carry a published affiliate reward.
The customer and the first useful result
ManeDeck organizes horse profiles, health history, documents, appointments, expenses, and permitted information shared by barns and providers. The first useful result is one horse with a record its owner can retrieve. Later value can come from reminders across several horses, shared care information, and connected provider billing.
Good prospects include horse owners with scattered records, owners managing more than one horse, boarders receiving information from a connected barn, and equine businesses looking at the appropriate professional workspace. Ask which role the prospect actually has. An owner’s subscription, a barn’s operating plan, and a farrier’s professional subscription are different purchases.
Do not sell ManeDeck as emergency veterinary care, automatic diagnosis, a guarantee of health compliance, or a payment account that every farrier already accepts. Connected payments depend on an eligible provider and the relevant account setup. A downloadable Horse Passport organizes records; it does not replace an official health certificate, Coggins document, or event organizer’s requirements.
Discovery questions that lead to a useful demonstration
- Are you an owner, boarder, barn manager, farrier, or more than one of these?
- How many horses do you own, and how many do you only help care for?
- Which records are hardest to find: vaccinations, Coggins, receipts, appointments, or care instructions?
- Who should see which parts of a horse’s information?
- Is your barn or farrier already using ManeDeck?
- Do you need personal recordkeeping or business expense/reporting tools?
- Are you using a browser, iPhone, or iPad?
Summarize the need before showing the app: “You want both horses’ documents and upcoming care information together, while your helper sees only what you authorize.” Show that path instead of leading with every professional billing feature.
Plans, platform availability, and what earns
The current ManeDeck pricing page advertises:
| Offer | Published price | Primary use |
|---|---|---|
| Owner Free | $0 | One owned horse, profile/photos, essential health records, document vault, reminders and scoped sharing |
| Owner | $5.99/month or $39.99/year | Unlimited owned horses, full records, expenses, documents/Passport, reminders and scoped sharing |
| Owner Business | $12.99/month | Owner features plus business/tax tools and AI assistant |
| Farrier Pro | $19.99/month plus payment fees | Professional client, service, appointment, invoice and collection workflows |
| Barn Pro | From $39.99/month plus payment fees | Barn roster, care/feed, billing and event workflows |
Owners pay a flat subscription rather than a fee for each horse. Free’s one-owned-horse limit does not mean an invitation to view someone else’s horse transfers ownership or buys a subscription.
The public site currently offers the browser app and iPhone/iPad download; it labels Google Play Release in progress. Do not promise an Android store release date or instruct someone to install an unofficial package. Native screens and prices can vary with version, region, and store. The final purchase sheet governs the customer’s purchase; show it before quoting the amount due.
The current Residual Apps catalog publishes Owner rewards of $2 per qualifying monthly payment or $13.33 per annual payment, and $4 per qualifying monthly Owner Business payment. Those are gross program rewards before applicable partner fees/adjustments. Do not extend those rates to Farrier Pro, Barn Pro, provider invoices, payment processing, or an old AI add-on. Those transactions are not established as commissionable by the published offer.
Lesson 1 — Start with the correct account
Let a new prospect open your personal ManeDeck referral link from Residual Apps before signing up. From the official website, Sign in or create your account opens the application. Choose the role that matches the customer. The account form distinguishes an owner/boarder from professional work and asks relevant horse-count information.
The customer enters their own email and password, completes the account form, and keeps those credentials private. A returning user signs in instead of creating another account. Forgot password? is available when needed; a reset should use the intended email and the latest valid link.
The current owner application’s main navigation is Home, Horses, Directory, Inbox, and More. Older app versions can have a different layout. Confirm that the customer has reached their own account before discussing records or billing.
If the person received a barn or horse-access invitation, have them use that invitation under the intended account. A shared access invitation and your sales referral link serve different purposes. Do not substitute one for the other or claim accepting a care invitation guarantees affiliate attribution.
Lesson 2 — Add and identify a horse
Open Horses. The screen distinguishes owned horses from horses shared with the user. Select the add-horse control and enter the identifying details the form requests. Use a recognizable barn/display name and accurate breed, sex, and available identity information. Optional registered or passport information should come from actual records.
Save once and verify the horse appears in the correct list. Open its detail and confirm the identity before entering a health record or document. For a demonstration, use “Clover Demo” and a clearly fictional description. Do not upload a real client’s registration papers into a demo account.
Use Edit horse for corrections, review the fields, and Save horse. Archive horse is a deliberate action, not a troubleshooting step. Explain its displayed consequences before anyone uses it. If the Free account reaches its owned-horse limit, review Owner plans rather than repurposing another horse’s profile.
Lesson 3 — Understand care, health, and access
The horse detail organizes information into sections including Health records, documents, care, money, and access. Which controls are editable depends on the user’s relationship to that horse.
In Health records, a simple verified starter workflow is Add vaccination: enter the vaccine name and actual date, save, then find the record again. Other health information can include Coggins, dental, weight/body condition, medications, and structured deworming context where the account and screen support it. Record observed facts and professional instructions; an affiliate should not prescribe a treatment or interpret a record as medical clearance.
For a shared horse, a health summary can be read-only. That is not necessarily a bug. The owner, managing barn, or assigned provider may have the authority to record changes. Ask the responsible person to adjust legitimate access rather than copying credentials.
Care sections can show feed, turnout, and routines published by a connected barn. “Feed plan not shared” can mean missing access; “no active feed routine” can mean nothing has been published. These are different situations. A horse outside a barn-managed board can have an owner-managed feed plan where that control is available. Review amounts, timing, and exceptions with the actual responsible caregiver.
Lesson 4 — Upload documents and use the Passport
Open the horse’s Documents section. Enter an understandable title, choose the document type, add an applicable expiry date, and select the file. Current supported uploads include PDF, JPEG, PNG, and HEIC, with a 10 MiB limit. Use Upload document and wait for confirmation.
Open the saved document to verify the correct file and horse. A file selected on the device or a local preview is not proof it reached the server. If upload fails, the form can remain available for another attempt. Keep the original file until the saved document opens successfully.
Documents can be read-only for a shared user. Only the authorized role should upload or delete. Before deleting, confirm which horse and document are selected and keep any needed original elsewhere.
Open Passport and, where authorized, choose Download Passport PDF. Confirm the file saved and inspect the contents before sharing. It contains the information available to that account; it cannot include a document the user has no permission to access. Ask the receiving event, buyer, or transporter what official paperwork they require.
Lesson 5 — Appointments, expenses, and AI
Appointment workflows let the user organize vet, farrier, dental, or other visits. Shared appointments appear only when made available to that account. A record of an appointment does not by itself prove that a provider accepted it or that the visit occurred. Check the visible confirmation/status and use the agreed communication method with the provider.
For costs, open the relevant expense area and Add expense. Associate the correct horse and review amount, date, category, and description. Shared costs should be allocated intentionally rather than duplicated against every horse. Spending reports are only as accurate as the entered records.
Owner Business includes the AI assistant, with supported record logging and receipt extraction. If using Scan a receipt (AI), review every extracted field before saving. A successful scan is not a completed expense until the user confirms/saves it. If scanning is unavailable, enter the receipt manually.
Business flags, tax mappings, mileage/depreciation, and exports organize information for review. They do not determine a customer’s tax liability or eligibility for deductions. Let the customer’s qualified adviser make those decisions. Do not put private payment details or unnecessary personal information into a demonstration chat.
Lesson 6 — Directory, messages, and connected bills
Directory helps locate relevant providers and services. Search results are not a promise that a provider is currently available or suitable for a specific horse. When sending an inquiry, read and agree to the displayed contact-sharing consent. The current form’s consent applies to that request. Do not send a demo inquiry to a real business.
Inbox brings provider messages and shared barn updates together. Visibility depends on access. Missing private updates should be discussed with the sender or barn manager, not treated as proof all app notifications are broken.
Connected billing can include invoices, approvals, payment permissions, receipts, and a ledger. For an eligible invoice, inspect the provider, horse, description, amount, and status. Hosted payment collection is available only when the provider’s payout account is connected and active. If setup cannot begin, the provider may need to complete its own account requirements.
An explicit capped authorization is permission for eligible charges under its terms. It is not the same as approving every future amount without limit. Read the authorization and any per-charge approval before confirming. A button click or pending status is not proof money settled. Check the invoice and receipt before paying again.
Keep three payments separate when explaining the product: the owner’s ManeDeck subscription, a professional’s operating subscription, and a horse-service invoice paid to a provider. Only the currently qualifying owner subscription rewards should be described as your affiliate commission opportunity.
Lesson 7 — Manage subscription and account issues
Use More to reach account and subscription-related controls in the current owner interface. Review the displayed plan, billing period, and purchase channel. Apple/Google manage their own subscription charges and cancellation. Use Restore Purchases in a compatible installed app with the original store account when access is missing.
Do not purchase again just because a connection failure leaves entitlement temporarily unverified. Check the app email, original store account, connection, and purchase status; then contact support with the plan and approximate date. An old AI add-on can remain honored without being a new customer offer.
Account deletion is permanent and separate from store cancellation. Read the confirmation and applicable retention notice. Deleting the app or signing out does not cancel a renewing store subscription. Never use a customer’s deletion controls during a demo.
A six-minute demonstration
Use fictional “Clover Demo” in an authorized demo account. Prepare the account and a harmless synthetic PDF in advance.
- Ask the prospect’s role, horse count, and hardest-to-find record.
- Show Horses and distinguish owned from shared profiles.
- Open Clover Demo and save a fictional vaccination record.
- Upload the synthetic document and reopen it.
- Show Passport, a permitted care view, or an expense according to the actual need and plan.
- Explain Free versus Owner; discuss Business only if its extra tools matter.
- End with one task: create their first horse and add one real record themselves.
Avoid real appointments, provider inquiries, invitations, payment authorizations, and charges during a demonstration. Screenshots or a prepared demo state can illustrate billing without taking a financial action.
Usable conversations and objections
Introduction: “Where do you keep your horse’s Coggins, vaccination history, and receipts? ManeDeck starts free with one owned horse, and the paid Owner plan covers all your horses. I’m an affiliate and may earn a commission if you buy through my link.”
“I already use a binder.” A binder can work. Show the specific benefit of retrieving the document on a phone or allowing limited access, if that solves their problem.
“Will my barn see every expense?” Access is scoped. Inspect permissions for that relationship; do not promise universal visibility or universal secrecy without checking the actual scope.
“Does paying Owner make my farrier accept payments here?” No. The provider needs an eligible connected professional/payment setup.
“Is AI veterinary advice?” No. Health questions go to a qualified veterinarian; urgent care needs an urgent provider.
“Where is Android?” The public site currently says release in progress. The browser is available; do not promise a store date.
After an invited demo: “Did the document reopen under the right horse, and does your helper have only the access you intended?” This helps the customer use the product rather than merely collect a login.
Referral tracking, support, and readiness
Copy your own current ManeDeck share link or QR from the Residual Apps dashboard. A provider listing, horse-access invitation, or generic App Store link is not automatically your affiliate link. New customers should begin from the tracked link before registration. Switching devices, existing accounts, storage restrictions, and store handoffs can affect attribution.
The published $2 monthly Owner, $13.33 annual Owner, and $4 monthly Business rewards require qualifying paid attribution. Free accounts and trials do not produce paid commissions. Annual billing produces the annual reward, not twelve monthly rewards. Residual Apps keeps 20% of earned commissions, capped at $9.99/month, under its current standard terms; refunds, cancellations, and eligibility can affect earnings. See the partner-program training for the shared payout process.
For product help, email support@manedeck.com. Include account email, horse display name, role, workflow, device/version, and exact error. For a provider payment, include provider name, invoice number, amount/date, and visible status. Send no passwords, full card/bank details, or private keys. For affiliate credit, use support@residualapps.com with the product and dashboard evidence.
Practice answers:
- One owned horse and essential records? Start Free.
- Several owned horses and records/reminders? Owner.
- Business tools and included AI? Owner Business.
- A shared health summary cannot be edited? Check relationship permissions with the responsible owner/barn.
- Passport replaces official travel paperwork? No.
- Paid Owner means any farrier invoice can be charged? No; connected provider eligibility and explicit authorization matter.
- Farrier Pro sale earns the Owner reward? Do not promise that; the published reward is for qualifying Owner/Business subscriptions.
- Receipt scanning completes the expense automatically? No; review and save.
Be ready to add/find a horse, save/reopen a record and document, explain owned versus shared access, locate support and restore, and disclose your affiliate relationship.
Use the app and help us improve it
Use the app yourself before recommending it. Complete one useful workflow in your own account or an authorized demo, then find the saved result again. A paid subscription is not required to become a partner; use the free option or an available preview and be clear about what you have actually tried.
If you use this app, tell us what works, where you get stuck, bugs you can reproduce, and what you wish it did next in Partner Care. Include the app, web/iOS/Android, installed version or browser version, steps, expected result, and what happened. Say whether it affects your own use or a demonstration. Please report unclear training or a screen that differs from this guide too.
Keep customer names, email addresses, medical records, payment details, passwords, and sign-in codes out of feedback. Use fictional examples and remove private information from screenshots. Urgent account or billing problems still belong with the product support route above.
