Help a parent understand the product, start an organized record, and use the right sharing controls. Product and pricing checked September 27, 2026. Allow 30–40 minutes, including a demonstration with fictional family information.
Explain the outcome accurately
ParentDocket helps co-parents keep parenting notes, custody schedules, shared expenses, documents, and recorded communication together. Plus includes messaging that is sealed when sent and a certified export that checks the message record's integrity.
Say: “It gives you one place for the parenting record and a way to export the messages with their timestamps and integrity information.” The court decides whether to admit or rely on evidence. Never promise that ParentDocket is court approved, that a judge will accept a PDF, or that a customer will win a case. Record integrity also does not establish that every statement someone typed is true.
Recognize the right customer
Good fits include a parent collecting parenting notes in several places, co-parents who want to document schedule changes, and families who need a clearer record of expense requests. An attorney or counselor may suggest a recordkeeping tool, but a professional's involvement does not make an affiliate a legal adviser.
Ask:
- Are you starting a private record or coordinating with the other parent now?
- Where do you currently keep the schedule and change requests?
- What information do you need to find quickly?
- Is there an existing order specifying an app or communication method?
- Do both parents understand what will be shared?
- Is your immediate need a journal, a shared message record, or an expense history?
If an order names another service, the parent should ask their lawyer or court about permitted changes. Do not tell them to disregard an order. A prospective customer who needs legal representation, emergency help, or mediation needs the relevant professional service. ParentDocket provides recordkeeping tools; it does not provide those services.
Understand Solo and Plus
The current official pricing advertises:
| Plan | Price | Appropriate first use |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | Free | One parent's journal, custody calendar, and document vault |
| Plus monthly | $9.99/month | Certified messaging and exports, second-parent link, swaps, shared expenses |
| Plus annual | $99.99/year | The same Plus feature set, billed for a year |
The site offers a 14-day Plus trial subject to eligibility. One subscription covers both linked parents; the invited parent joins using the link code without a second subscription. Free Solo does not mean all shared Plus tools are permanently free.
The public site now states the same US Plus prices for web, iOS, and Android. The checkout or actual store purchase sheet remains the place to confirm localized price, introductory eligibility, total, and renewal date. Existing subscribers may have earlier pricing. Do not promise a new price retroactively or tell an invited parent to purchase a second plan.
Some AI-related actions use credits, with additional purchases offered when needed. Do not describe tone checks or custody-order parsing as unlimited simply because the family has Plus. Review the displayed balance and purchase terms before using an optional paid action.
Lesson 1 — Create the correct account
Have the parent open your own ParentDocket link from Residual Apps. At the ParentDocket app, a returning user chooses Log in; a new user selects New here? Create your account and follows the account prompts. The parent enters their own credentials.
If they already received a co-parent link code, use the offered Enter your link code instead path. That code connects the parent's account to the existing subscription relationship. It is not the affiliate tracking code. Confirm the intended co-parent before accepting any invitation.
The current app tabs are Journal, Custody, Documents, Children, Messages, Expenses, Certified Record, Professionals, and Settings. Some actions require Plus or an appropriate shared relationship. A tab being visible does not prove the account can use every action within it.
Lesson 2 — Start with a private journal entry
- Open Journal.
- Under New entry, review Visibility before typing.
- Choose Private — only you for a personal note or the shared option when the other parent should see it.
- Enter a clear title and a factual account of what happened.
- Choose Save entry and check that it appears with the intended visibility.
Practice with “Demo pickup note” and “Practice entry: fictional pickup at 5 p.m.” Include dates, direct observations, and relevant context. Avoid exaggeration and guesses about the other person's motives.
The app explains that shared entries become a permanent part of the record. Do not assume a private entry is automatically included in shared messages or a certified message export. Review each area's sharing rules separately. Use fake names and facts for demonstrations because shared records are deliberately persistent.
Lesson 3 — Add the child and review information sharing
Open Children, enter a name and optional birthdate under Add a child, then select Add child. Tap an existing child to inspect the Info Bank for medical, school, size, and emergency information.
Use only information appropriate for the actual family relationship. Confirm which co-parent record is selected if the account has more than one relationship. A child profile in the wrong relationship can create confusion about what is shared. An affiliate should demonstrate with “Sam Demo,” never copy a customer's child's information into a personal account.
Information is useful only when kept current. Parents should agree who updates changed school or emergency details and check the saved result. ParentDocket does not independently confirm that a phone number or medical detail is correct.
Lesson 4 — Link the other parent
For the subscribing parent, open Settings → Co-Parent Link and choose Generate link code. Give it privately to the intended co-parent. The recipient uses their own account and enters the code under Or enter a code from your co-parent, then chooses Accept. Confirm the resulting relationship.
The generated co-parent code grants a relationship inside the product. Your Residual Apps link introduces a new customer. These serve different purposes and should never be substituted for one another.
Explain the sharing consequences before accepting the code. If the parent is unsure about communicating or sharing information with the other person, refer them to their own legal or safety adviser. Do not create a link yourself to “help” without the account owner's understanding and action.
Lesson 5 — Send a considered message
Open Messages in the intended co-parent relationship. Type a short, specific message such as “Demo: Can we confirm pickup at 5 p.m. Friday?” Read it before sending. The optional Check tone before sending action can flag wording and offer a revision; read any suggestion yourself and preserve the intended meaning.
Choose Send only after review. Sent messages are sealed and cannot be edited or deleted like an ordinary draft. If a correction is needed, send a clearly identified correction. An AI tone suggestion is not legal advice, and it does not guarantee the recipient's reaction.
The interface also offers Attach. Confirm that the intended file attached and inspect the sent result before relying on it. Do not include unrelated sensitive documents merely because attachments are available. If a network issue occurs, check the conversation before repeating the send.
Lesson 6 — Build and inspect the custody calendar
Open Custody → Set up a recurring schedule. Choose the child, a supported pattern, the starting/primary parent, and the start date. Current pattern choices include week on/week off, 2-2-3 rotation, and every other weekend. Choose Save schedule, then inspect several dates in the calendar.
Use the family's actual agreement or order; the app does not decide custody. Holiday setup applies overrides, so inspect the resulting holiday dates as well as ordinary weeks. Do not recommend a pattern simply because it is easiest to demonstrate.
For a proposed exception, enter the original date, proposed date, and reason under Swap Requests, then choose Request swap. A request is not automatically an agreement. Read its status and the Change Log before treating the calendar as changed.
The optional court-order parser accepts a PDF or photo and uses AI. Review every extracted date, holiday, and exchange rule against the actual order before relying on it. Credits and additional charges may apply. An unclear order should go to the appropriate professional rather than being resolved by an affiliate's interpretation.
Record check-in now creates the user's timestamped location check-in when permission and device location are available. The screen describes these check-ins as private to that user. A location result is not guaranteed proof of all circumstances at an exchange.
Lesson 7 — Record expenses and documents
Under Expenses, enter the description, amount, category, and Co-parent's share (%). Attach an optional receipt and review whether Repeat every month is selected before choosing Add expense. For a fictional $40 activity expense at 50%, explain the expected $20 share, then inspect what the app recorded.
Expense recording, acceptance or dispute, and an actual payment are different events. The Payments area can offer money transfers once the required setup is complete. Review recipient, amount, fees, and status before any real transfer. Never send real money during an affiliate demonstration or mark a disputed amount as settled to make the example tidy.
Under Documents, enter a title, type, optional note, and selected file, then choose Upload. The shared Documents area is described as visible to both parents, with opens and downloads logged. Verify the upload and open the saved item; a filename selected on the device is not proof of a successful upload.
Lesson 8 — Export the certified message record
Open Certified Record, choose optional From and To dates, then select Download Certified PDF or Download as Text. Confirm that the file downloaded and that the date range, conversation, timestamps, and integrity result match what you intended.
The export re-checks the message chain and includes authentication information. Do not describe it as a court filing or as proof that a statement is true. The parent or their lawyer decides what should be submitted and how. A journal note, expense, or document should not be assumed included in a certified message export just because it exists elsewhere in the app.
The Professionals tab offers professional access tools. Read the displayed permissions and consent flow before inviting anyone. Do not grant a professional access casually as part of a sales demonstration. Under Settings, a generated calendar feed link can be used in calendar software; treat it privately because anyone with the link can see the calendar.
Your six-minute demonstration
Prepare two fictional, consenting demo accounts with appropriate Plus access if showing shared features. Never message a real co-parent or invite a real professional during practice.
- Ask whether the customer needs a private starting record or immediate shared communication.
- Save one private “Demo pickup” journal entry and point out Visibility.
- Show one child and a prepared recurring calendar. Inspect an ordinary date and a holiday.
- Show how a code links the intended second account without a second subscription.
- Send a neutral demo message and inspect it. Show a prepared expense and explain its status.
- Download and open the certified demo PDF, explain the court's decision on admissibility, and compare Solo with Plus.
For a parent not ready to invite anyone, end with a private journal entry and organized calendar. The first useful step can be free.
Introductions, objections, and support
Example introduction: “Are your parenting notes and schedule changes scattered across texts and files? ParentDocket keeps them in one place and Plus can export a sealed message record. I can show you a fictional example. I'm an affiliate and may earn a commission through my link.”
After an invited demo: “Were you able to save the journal entry with the visibility you intended? If you're ready to link the other parent, use the co-parent code inside Settings so they join the existing plan.”
“Will the court accept it?” The court decides. Explain the record and export features without predicting a ruling.
“Does the other parent pay?” One Plus subscription covers both linked parents. The recipient uses the co-parent code.
“Can I remove something I sent?” Sent messages are permanent; correct them with a new message. Account deletion does not erase the other parent's certified record.
“Why is my paid feature locked?” Confirm account, relationship, plan, and purchase provider. Store users can use Restore purchases from Settings. Do not buy twice while activation is uncertain.
“How do I cancel?” Use the original billing provider's subscription controls. Uninstalling is not cancellation. Read deletion consequences separately; Apple/Google subscriptions should be managed in the respective store.
For login, exports, billing, or record issues, use support@parentdocket.com, listed on the official site. Include account email, device/version, screen, error, and purchase channel when relevant. Send only necessary, redacted evidence; never passwords, full card details, or a full custody file in a public support thread.
Earn credit and check readiness
Residual Apps publishes $2.50/month per qualifying referred subscription. This is a gross reward before applicable platform share and payout conditions; see partner program training for the full calculation. Use your current personal ParentDocket product link and verify the destination before sharing. Start the customer's registration from that link. Existing accounts, browser changes, storage blocking, and store handoffs can affect attribution. Do not infer an annual reward from the monthly amount or promise credit for the invited second parent. Free Solo and trial activity are not completed paid sales.
Use the dashboard for actual eligible earnings and Residual Apps support for attribution questions. Refunds, cancellations, and program conditions affect payment. Keep the affiliate disclosure beside your recommendation.
Readiness answers: a private journal is not a shared message; a co-parent code is not an affiliate code; a requested swap is not an accepted swap; an expense is not a completed transfer; a certified export is not guaranteed admissibility; deleting an account does not erase an already shared certified record. You are ready after you can demonstrate these distinctions and the core workflow without using real family data.
